新华集团成立逾六十载。
1957年，蔡继有先生在香港创办新华集团，经营海产捕捞、加工及分销业务，成功开拓及获得多种类食品在香港、东南亚及北美洲的经销权，在香港海产界声誉卓著，被誉为“海产大王”。
1976年，蔡冠深博士出任集团主席，带领员工将新华发展成为一家业务多元、拥有五家上市机构的大型跨国集团。如今，新华业务横跨海产食品、地产建筑、金融财务、高新科技、传媒文化、教育培训、基础建设和环保大健康等八大领域，投资网络广及中国内地、港澳，以及日本、越南、缅甸、柬埔寨、新加坡、加拿大、欧洲、美国及澳大利亚等国家和地区。
新华集团主席蔡冠深博士，是在香港上市的新华滙富金融集团主席及越南VinaCapital集团主席、中银香港(控股)有限公司独立非执行董事。
蔡博士热心社会及国际事务，主要公职包括：全国政协常委、第十二届全国政协教科卫体委员会副主任、亚太经合组织商贸咨询理事会(ABAC)中国香港代表(2015-20)、中华海外联谊会副会长、香港中华总商会会长、中国内地~香港“一带一路”工商专业委员会港方主席、“一带一路”工商协会联盟共同主席、粤港澳大湾区企业家联盟主席、京津冀环渤海企业家联盟主席、香港贸易发展局理事；香港越南商会创会会长、香港韩国商会创会会长、中国香港以色列科技中心主席等。
蔡博士于2025年获推选为清华大学高等研究中心基金会董事长，他同时也担任多间大学校董或顾问委员会成员，包括复旦大学、南京大学、中山大学等。蔡博士历年来获多家中外大学授予荣誉博士荣衔，包括：美国密歇根州立大学、香港岭南大学、越南河内国家大学、英国德蒙福特大学、加拿大阿尔伯塔大学、香港都会大学及柬埔寨国立管理大学。
2015年，蔡博士分别获越南国家主席颁发友谊勋章及韩国政府任命为韩国对外投资推广荣誉大使(2015-19)；2019年1月获澳门特别行政区政府颁授教育功绩勋章；同月再获中国外交部驻港特派员公署授予"外交之友"荣誉，以表彰他积极配合国家开展民间外交，对弘扬中华文化、推进中外交流合作所做出的杰出贡献。2022年11月获日本政府授予旭日中绶章，2023年9月获法国总统颁授法国国家荣誉军团勋章，及2024年1月荣获柬埔寨皇家友谊合作勋章。蔡博士还荣获香港特区政府授予大紫荆勋贤、金紫荆星章及太平绅士，以表彰他在公共及社会服务的贡献。
Sunwah Group has established for more than 60 years.
Corporate history dates back to 1957 when patriarch Choi Kai Yau founded SunwahGroup in Hong Kong as a seafood processor, wholesaler and distributor. It was from the trade and financial hub of Hong Kong that Sunwah expanded its food wholesale trade and distribution businesses in Southeast Asia and North America. Mr. Choi Kai Yau received his moniker as the "King of Seafood" .
In 1976, Dr. Jonathan K S Choi, son of the Founder, assumed Chairman of Sunwah. Under his leadership Sunwah's business expands and diversifies. Today, Sunwah is a highly diversified conglomerate with businesses in eight principal areas: Seafood & Foodstuff, Real Estate, Financial Services, Technology, Infrastructure, Media, Education and training, Green technology and healthcare. Activities cover extensively into Mainland China, Japan, Macau, Vietnam, Myanmar, Cambodia, Singapore, Canada, Europe, the US and Australia.
Dr. Jonathan K S Choi, Chairman of the Sunwah Group, is the Chairman of the Hong Kong-listed Sunwah Kingsway Capital Group, the Chairman of VinaCapital Group of Vietnam and Independent Non-executive Director of BOC Hong Kong (Holdings) Limited.
Dr. Choi is active in community and international affairs which is evident in the wide range of public positions he holds. These mainly include: Standing Committee Member of National Committee of Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (NCCPPCC) of the P.R.C; Deputy Director of the Committee for Education, Science, Culture, Health and Sports of the 12th term of NCCPPCC; Hong Kong, China's representative (2015-20) to APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC); Vice President of China Overseas Friendship Association; Chairman of the Hong Kong Chinese General Chamber of Commerce; Chairman (Hong Kong) of Mainland China-Hong Kong Belt and Road Business and Professional Services Council; Co-Chair of the Belt & Road Industrial and Commercial Alliance (BRICA); Chairman of Guangdong-HK-Macao Bay Area Entrepreneurs Alliance; Chairman of the Bohai Rim Entrepreneurs Alliance; Council Member of Hong Kong Trade Development Council; Founding Chairman of the Hong Kong - Vietnam Chamber of Commerce; Founding Chairman of Hong Kong - Korea Business Council and Chairman of the China Hong Kong Israel Technology Cooperation and Promotion Center etc.
Dr. Choi was elected in 2025 as Chairman of the Foundation of the Center for Advanced Studies at Tsinghua University. He also serves as a board member or advisor to several universities, including Fudan University, Nanjing University, and Sun Yat-sen University. Over the years, Dr. Choi has been awarded honorary doctoral degrees by numerous universities in China and abroad, including Michigan State University (USA), Lingnan University (Hong Kong), Vietnam National University, Hanoi, De Montfort University (UK), University of Alberta (Canada), Hong Kong Metropolitan University, and the National University of Management (Cambodia).
In 2015, Dr. Choi was conferred the ‘Friendship Order’ by the President of Vietnam and became an Honorary Ambassador of Foreign Investment Promotion for Korea from 2015 to 2019 respectively. In January 2019, Dr. Choi was awarded the Medal of Merit on Education by Macau S.A.R Government and was awarded an honor of ‘Friends of Diplomacy’ by the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of P.R.C. in Hong Kong for his tremendous contribution on implementing non-official diplomacy, promoting Chinese culture to foreign countries. In November 2022, Dr. Choi was conferred The Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon by Japanese Government. In September 2023, Dr. Choi was conferred the ‘Order national de la legion de honneur’ by the French President. In January 2024, Dr. Choi was conferred the Royal Order of Sahametrei - Moha Sereyvath by Kingdom of Cambodia. In September of the same year, he received the ASEAN Outstanding Entrepreneur Lifetime Achievement Award. Dr. Choi has been awarded the Grand Bauhinia Medal (GBM), the Gold Bauhinia Star (GBS) and Justice of the Peace (JP) by the HKSAR Government for his meritorious public and community service.
